BREAKING: Supreme Court removes Abure as Labour Party National Chairman

The Supreme Court has overturned the Court of Appeal’s decision that recognized Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).

In a unanimous ruling on Friday, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court stated that the Court of Appeal lacked the jurisdiction to declare Abure the LP National Chairman.

The court emphasized that the leadership dispute within the party was an internal matter, beyond the scope of judicial intervention, and noted that Abure’s tenure had expired.

The court upheld the appeal filed by Senator Ester Nenadi Usman and another party member, ruling it valid, and dismissed the cross-appeal from Abure’s faction as unmeritorious.
