How Senate President Akpabio Sexually Harassed Me – Sen. Natasha Alleges

Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment, alleging he made inappropriate remarks during a visit to his residence in Akwa Ibom.

Speaking on ARISE NEWS’ Morning Show on Friday, Akpoti-Uduaghan revealed the alleged incident occurred last December, a day before both their birthdays.

“It started the day before our birthdays. We were at his house in Ikot Ekpene before moving to his residence in Uyo. As he walked me through the interiors, he held my hand and said, ‘Now that you are a senator, I will create time for us to have quality moments here. You will enjoy it.’ At that moment, I pulled away because I didn’t understand what he meant,” she recounted.

Her claims come amid rising tensions in the Senate. Just last Thursday, a dramatic session unfolded when Akpabio ordered sergeants-at-arms to remove Akpoti-Uduaghan from the chamber.

The standoff erupted after Senate Chief Whip Mohammed Monguno informed Akpabio that Akpoti-Uduaghan refused to move to a newly assigned seat following two opposition senators’ defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Monguno, citing Senate Orders, defended Akpabio’s authority to reassign seats, arguing that senators could only speak from their designated positions. However, Akpoti-Uduaghan protested under Order 10, claiming her privileges had been violated.

With these latest allegations, the political rift between the two senators appears to have deepened, setting the stage for further controversy in the upper chamber.
