Tension in Court as Nnamdi Kanu Accuses Judge of Bias, Judiciary of Corruption

A dramatic scene unfolded at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday as Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), openly accused Justice Binta Nyako of bias and alleged corruption within the judiciary.

Kanu, expressing frustration over the handling of his case, claimed the judge was compromised due to personal interests involving her family.

“Why is it that when it comes to my case, the law is turned upside down?” he questioned, moments after the court ruled to indefinitely suspend his terrorism trial.

The decision further prolongs Kanu’s ongoing legal battle, which began with his 2015 arrest on treason and incitement charges. He initially secured bail in 2017 but fled after a military raid on his home. Following a controversial 2021 extradition from Kenya, his trial has been mired in delays and legal disputes.

With no clear timeline for the next steps, the adjournment adds to the uncertainty surrounding Kanu’s fate, leaving observers speculating on the possible outcomes.
